If you're taking BART, go to the NORTH BERKELEY station, NOT the Downtown Berkeley station. Going toward Richmond, North Berkeley is the next stop after Downtown Berkeley. There are lots of taxi cabs available at North Berkeley, it's a little closer, and it's a lot more peaceful than the downtown Berkeley station. The same trains go to both places.
